My Creative Eye | What I See vsWhat You See
Some can grab a stick, press it against a running
engine block, & put
it to their ear for a quick diagnosis of a motor.
Some know just the right time to plant their crop for a great harvest...
...without a weather report.
What about Rob? His knack is for visual design and 'picturing'
what someone is describing then creating it.
Rob draws from representational and traditional creative thoughts.
It is good ( almost more important) to know your designer's style
on top of their software prowess. That is, will they try to conform
your ideas to fit their style or be objective and simply advise
you on certain design elements needing attention?
Rob expands his traditional media skills with design software allowing
for faster concept development and prototypes. Being a creative
resource requires making time for outside stimulation by watching
nature in a park, listening to the sounds at a little league ballgame,
and flipping through books or DVDs for new visuals. You can't deprive
yourself of inspiration and expect to have the same pool of ideas
to create from on the next creative design. Rob tends to soak in
the world around him and express it through design. That satisfies
the 'S' part of my ISTJ personality type. So does sticking to the
venacular and somehow bringing out the design in it (ex. check out
my pictures of the local Johnson City Fire Department's fire hall).
Rob's style? Here's what he wants to hang above his fireplace:
The painting "The Hunters Return.," by Pieter
Bruegel The Elder 1565
Most any painting by Edward
Hopper and Jacques-Louis
David .
